Shareholders to oppose Stagecoach chief's pay deal

Stagecoach, the transport group, is today facing shareholder revolt over the remuneration of its chief executive and founder, chartered accountant Brian Souter.

Pensions Investment Research Consultants, Pirc, the corporate governance analysts, has recommended shareholders oppose the remuneration committee’s report at today’s AGM, the FT reported.

p>Prospects for defeat are thought to be limited because family members still own 40% of the firm’s shares.
