Executives travelling for business do not necessarily choose a hotel based on how prestigious or luxurious it is. Instead location, price and room facilities are the most important concerns, the annual Company Barclaycard Travel in Business Survey revealed.
The figures also showed that cost cutting CEOs are setting the example with more than half of business leaders staying in a budget hotel.
Men appear to be more prudent than women, with 69% revealing that they have stayed in a budget hotel compared to 57% of the fairer sex.
Company Barclaycard head of marketing Simon Chick said: ‘Our survey showed that price, location and room facilities were the three most important factors for business travellers when choosing a hotel.
‘Budget hotels offer all three without necessarily sacrificing comfort. As with low cost airlines where our survey revealed that 62% of business travellers prefers the cheaper option, it seems that UK business is keen to manage expenses sensibly.’
