The initiative has been designed to help the government make the UK ‘the best place in the world for e-business’.
PricewaterhouseCoopers has been awarded a contract by the DTI to carry out the assessment work on its behalf. It will run initially for 12 months.
The project will assess the impact of e-business on services sectors.
It will also involve making policy recommendations on how to improve the e-business environment in the UK.
Patricia Hewitt, minister for small business and e-commerce (above right), said: ‘The award of this contract will give a major boost to our understanding of why some sectors and businesses are exploiting new technologies more effectively than others.’
