Alan Reid has added another responsibility to a busy portfolio with his recent appointment as chairman of KPMG’s international management consulting committee. Reid who is KPMG’s head of management consulting Europe replaces Keith Fuller who has retired due to ill health.

John Harvey has joined Barony Group as director of its policy and research arm. Harvey, former head of Department of the Environment’s Estate Action Division, joins the consultancy firm from Price Waterhouse where he held a senior management position.

Ingersoll Engineers has promoted director Keith Bissett to managing director in a move to a team-based, partnership style operation. Bissett will lead a new four-strong executive group including David Pheasey, Stuart Smith and head of finance, Jim Cresswell. The current managing director, Brian Small moves up to become chairman and sector heads and product group heads Dennis Briggs, Martin Dufficy, David Hilliard, Phil Parry and Tim Washington join the board.

OSI has expanded its insurance team with the appointment of Brian Selby as business development manager. Selby who joined OSI from Morton Hodson Management Consultancy, will be responsible for creating and implementing the company’s sales and marketing strategies in the insurance sector.

Michael Chamberlain has joined the board of Informed Sources where he will be responsible for developing new business, focusing on mergers and acquisitions within the media industry. Chamberlain was formerly director of new media activities at United News & Media.

The British Consultants Bureau (BCB) has broken with tradition to appoint a female as its new chairman. Gillian Monaghan, who has served as vice chairman of the BCB since 1995, is also chief executive of the Universities of England Consortium for International Activities (UNECIA). She took up the role following the BCB’s AGM in November and is the first female chairman since the association was formed in 1965. TeamWARE has announced the appointment of Peter McAloon as a senior consultant. Formerly project director with DTI, McAloon will be responsible for directing and advising on the implementation of major installations.

Gatton Consulting has appointed Mike Bass as sales director of its synthesis consultancy division. Bass joins from Winsoft Products where he was managing director.

PA Consulting has recruited the first in a series of senior members to its energy and chemicals practice. David Hosein joins PA from Andersen Consulting’s strategic services practice. Bill Payne joins from the European energy practice of Andersen Consulting where he held a senior management position. Both men will be part of the oil and utilities team.

The Association for Project Management (APM) has appointed Alan Harpham as part-time chairman. Harpham, who is marketing director of the Nichols Group, has been a member of the association since becoming director of Cranfield School of Management’s MSc in project management in 1982. Working for the APM part-time, Harpham will develop business strategy and assist managing director Richard Pharro.

Business processing outsourcing company, Vertex Data Systems, has made three new marketing appointments. Damian Traynor joins from Mentor Systems as marketing manager. He will be responsible for co-ordinating the company’s marketing activity. Claire Bartlett, formerly of United Utilities, and Robert Townsend of P&P join the company as marketing executives.

Retail sector consultancy firm BACG has enlarged its marketing department with the appointment of two managers to the team. Philippa Morgan joins as product marketing manager and Albena Cant as market research and planning manager. The appointments are part of a major reorganisation of the company’s marketing function, which it aims to expand.

Towers Perrin has recruited Don Cuthbert to head its UK-based international employee relations business within its human resources services practice. Cuthbert was previously with William Mercer where he headed the European works councils practice.

Keith Jones has left Logica, where he was UK sales manager for retail banking and insurance, to join Lynx Financial Systems as its business development director. Steve Viney, Lynx’s technical director has been promoted to managing director.
