The company said that, integrated with Microsoft Business Solutions’ Great Plains and Solomon business applications, the new release will help organisations share business information.
The major developments centre on the adoption of Windows SharePoint Services as the foundation of version 2.0.
Microsoft said that this offers SharePoint web-based elements such as calendars, announcements and document libraries to record activities, share and edit documents and provide links to other sites.
In addition, SharePoint Web Parts created by third-party developers can be integrated with the 2.0 upgrade.
Employees using this functionality will be able to share and collaborate on documents, create pages, add graphs to portal pages, add sites for projects and meetings, and connect with external data sources.
