The Audit Commission has found fraud worth #41m after finishing its latest data matching exercise across 470 councils and other bodies. The figures are 166% up on the last time the commission carried out its national fraud initiative which unearthed only #15m. The NFI works by cross referencing data sets and is mainly aimed at housing benefit fraud.
