Biggest SME headache is cost control

For small and medium sized business owners, the biggest issue they have to deal with is keeping costs from spiralling out of control and then finding time to manage staff and IT problems.

More than a third of the 100 SME directors surveyed by JBS rated controlling costs as the biggest operational headache, followed by people management (31%) and computer problems (23%).

Furthermore, two-thirds of small business owners said they needed more time despite already working an eight-hour day.

A fifth of SME owners said IT management forced them to delegate management activity, spreading themselves too thinly and taking them away from their core business functions.
