The ICAEW is urging the government to include accountancy within the remit of
the Financial Services
Skills Council .
At a breakfast hosted by the Parliamentary Business, Finance and Accountancy
Group, ICAEW’s LPD director Dr Raymond Madden made the call for the skills
council to recognise the importance of finance professionals to the ‘future of
the UK economy’.
‘The professions are vital to UK competitiveness and a major export,’ said
Madden. ‘Accountancy should be within the footprint for the Sector Skills
Council, and have a seat at the table.’
The skills council is licensed by the UK government to work with employers to
help provide training, education and development for the financial services
industry in the UK.
