So farewell then Hoskyns
The Hoskyns name, prominent in UK IT and professional services since 1964, is to disappear as part of a consolidation and rebranding programme by parent group Cap Gemini Sogeti, which bought a majority interest in the firm in 1990. Hoskyns will now trade under the Cap Gemini name in common with the rest of the Cap Gemini Group’s IT services companies.
“What we have been trying to do over the last five years is create a degree of homogeneity, so that Cap Gemini can compete with the other world-class players,” said Tony Robinson, managing director of Cap Gemini in the UK.
The management consultancy function will continue as Gemini Consulting.
The firm’s aim is to close the gap between Cap Gemini’s worldwide revenues of $4.2bn and computer services market leaders IBM, $12.4bn, and EDS, $12.7bn, by following in their footsteps and providing a seamless international service to its customers.
The firm’s business sectors will be divided into pharmaceuticals, Telco, finance and insurance. Robinson anticipates that this change will enable the firm to achieve up to 40 per cent growth in the US over the next five years through acquisition and large outsourcing contracts.
