Top recovery expert joins Grant Thornton

Mid-tier firm Grant Thornton has strengthened its recovery and reorganisation practice with the appointment of Daniel Smith, whose high profile work includes the Maxwell pension fund and the Polly Peck scandal.

Smith has worked in the business recovery for 17 years, building his reputation at Clearing Banks and from a number of high-profile fraud cases including that of Asil Nadir, the founder of Polly Peck.

He joins Grant Thornton’s existing 160-strong corporate recovery team with immediate effect.

Mark Byers, head of recovery and reorganisation at the firm said: ‘We are delighted to have secured the services of Daniel Smith. His appointment will add even more depth to our team’s expertise and will play an important role in the further development of Grant Thornton’s reputation and expertise within the industry.’
