Abensur was appointed CFO in the Spring of 2001, but has been acting CE at Freeserve since July.

According to reports, Abensur will face a tough time at the helm with Freeserve, currently a loss making division of Wanadoo, due to increasing competition from British Telecom.

Wanadoo itself, is also under pressure due to the difficult financial position facing its parent company France Telecom.

At the same time it is looking to rebrand to incorporate all of its European operations under the Wanadoo name.
