MPs targeted ahead of Budget in tax simplification campaign

The English ICA's tax faculty has written to every MP ahead of this month's Budget to ask them whether the annual Budget is helping or hindering taxpayers and businesses.
Draft legislation and the pre-Budget report already strongly suggest this will be one of the longest and most complex Finance Bills to date, the faculty said.
So it decided to challenge MPs to consider whether the proposals announced in the Budget are fit for a modern tax system.
It has sent a copy of what it believes should be the ten guiding tenets of any new legislation to MPs aksing them to make their own judgment as to whether the Budget is helping or hindering taxpayers and businesses.
The move is part of the faculty’s campaign towards a better tax system, which it launched last year.
