Accounting institutes and other bodies set to meet on Monday to discuss the implications of shifting self assessment filing deadlines forward
The major UK accounting bodies are meeting on Monday to discuss the
implications of the proposed shift in self assessment tax deadlines.
The meeting is expected to look into devising a strategy with which to lobby
the government to change its plans for bringing forward self assessment tax
filing deadlines from 31 January to 30 September.
ICAEW tax faculty head Frank Haskew said the various issues that have arisen
out of the filing proposals need to be ‘thrashed out’.
But he warned that any communication with the government must be ‘objective
and constructive’.
The Association of Taxation Technicians is also joining the institutes in
discussions.
