The management buy-out sector currently appears to be the only strong area of corporate finance activity. According to the Centre for Management Buy-Out Research (CMBOR), #13.5bn of deals have been completed so far this year, 56% up on last year. This comes at a time when M&A activity has dropped 71%, and according to the research, sponsored by Deloitte & Touche and Barclays Private Equity, MBOs represent more than half the value of UK M&A activity. The research also revealed continuing ‘mega-deals’, with 22 deals of more than #100m in the first half of the year.
