Peer tipped to lead Audit Commission
Lord Norman Warner of Brockley, a former adviser to Jack Straw when he was Home Secretary, is being tipped to become the new chairman of the Audit Commission.
Lord Warner, would take over from Dame Helena Shovelton whose contract is not being renewed by the government.
Dame Helena controversially resigned her position as chairman of the Lottery Commission following a debacle over the reappointment of Camelot as the operator.
An adviser to Jack Straw from 1997 and 1998, Lord Warner is a former director of social services.
