Pollsters MORI found that less than half of all bosses believe it is in the country’s economic interest to adopt the single currency.
This contrasts with surveys taken five years ago when seven in ten leaders supported the euro.
The same study also found a growing confidence emerging in accountancy in the wake of the Higgs Report and the moves towards corporate governance.
Fewer than one in ten business leaders felt the need to question the integrity of the audit advice they were receiving.
Nine in ten had confidence in the advice they were receiving.
The fieldwork for the survey of City high-fliers was conducted between August and October this year.
