Taking Stock - It could have been given a worse name.
The naming of events after a celebrated individual frequently happens posthumously. So when TS was invited to attend a meeting of the English ICA tax faculty recently, the invitation prompted a double-take. The lecture took the name of faculty founder and esteemed president-in-waiting Peter Wyman. Fortunately TS’ fears were unfounded. The bane of chancellor Gordon Brown is alive and kicking. When asked about the choice of title, Wyman said: ‘At least it wasn’t called the Wyman Memorial Lecture.’
