'First e-procurement system' for college

Merseyside-based St Helens College has taken on an online e-procurement system from Symmetry, and run by the Crescent Purchasing Corporation, which is claimed to be the 'first further education institution to make purchases using a secure online environment'.

The buying facility will be introduced for the college’s eleven directorates, in an effort to reduce processing costs and decrease the time taken to process orders.

‘The Further Education Finance Directors Group welcomes this step forward in technology in the modernisation of the finance function in the sector,’ said Martin Penny, the group’s chairman.
