Curin, 44, who will stay on until a replacement is found, joined P&O in October 2000 after the demerger of P&O Princess Cruises.
‘Following the recent progress in the group’s strategic development, including the expansion and reorganisation of ports and consolidation of ferries, she feels it is timely to start looking for a new career opportunity,’ said P&O.
A spokesman dismissed speculation that Curin’s departure was prompted after it became clear she was not in the running to succeed 63-year-old managing director Sir Bruce McPhail.
