A takeover battle is looming for software house Pegasus as Sage considers a rival bid to the £30m offer from Australia's Solution 6, according to reports today.
Sage and Pegasus had considered a marriage in 1996 when Sage launched a £31m offer only to have it rejected as inadequate amid warnings that the tie-up could face regulatory hurdles.
Pegasus previously said it had found a new partner in Australian accountancy software group Solution 6 after it made a 430p-a-share offer for the UK company.
