SEC releases finalised independence rules
The Securities and Exchange Commission this week released the final revisions of its auditor independence requirements.
The revised rules require the majority of public companies to disclose the non-audit services provided by their auditor in their annual statements.
Accountancy firms must now meet strict disclosure conditions if they wish to provide certain non-audit services that the SEC believes impair auditors’ independence.
