The meeting of 18 managing partners, revealed by AccountancyAge.com last week, is expected to take place throughout the rest of today, with the firm looking to make an appointment as soon as possible.
It began yesterday and the firm said it could spill over into tomorrow.
A spokesman for Andersen, said: ‘The Andersen Worldwide board members are meeting today. It is a regular meeting however and has not been set up especially to talk about an interim appointment – but it would be weird if they weren?t to discuss the matter.’
Berardino quit as chief executive a week ago after 14 months in the role. Lou Salvatore and Paul Volcker have been tipped as potential candidates for the interim position.
The firm added it is not expecting to be making any official announcements today, and said the UK business was still working towards a deal with KPMG, despite a number of businesses defecting to PwC, Ernst & Young and Deloitte & Touche.
