Survey exposes weaknesses of IT governance

The majority of chief information officers do not believe their own senior
management could explain their IT governance frameworks, according to a survey
by Deloitte.

The study found that 77% of CIOs believe their organisations fail to deliver
at least one in four of their IT projects on time and to budget which, the firm
said, is having an adverse effect on the IT change projects.

Stephen Ley, technology assurance and advisory director at Deloitte, said:
‘There appears to be a lack of communication between CIOs and senior management
on IT governance frameworks. A good place to start would be in the design of the
performance measurement and reporting framework that IT departments can use to

communicate with the business.’

PA Consulting has appointed

Lady Barbara Thomas Judge as a non-executive director with effect from
December. The deputy chair of the Financial Reporting Council has held senior
positions across a range of industries including executive director of Samuel
Montagu, executive director at News International and was one of the first women
to be appointed as commissioner for the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Lady Judge said: ‘PA is embarking on an aggressive growth agenda. I look
forward to working with the rest of the board to deliver the growth agenda.’
