Parliament - Committee to focus on millennium
The Prime Minister Tony Blair has set up a ministerial committee to oversee work being done in both the private and public sector on the millennium date change.
The committee will be chaired by President of the Board of Trade, Margaret Beckett and will focus on:
– Systems in central government and government agencies.
– Systems in the rest of the public sector.
– Systems in the private sector.
Business and other organisations needing to plan back up in case their systems break down.
Other common issues sharing best practice, skills shortage.
