Keith Proudfoot has become the ICAEW’s first Northern regional manager. Proudfoot, 48, heads the institute’s new regional business centre in Newcastle, which will serve the interests of the 2,800 chartered accountants in the North East and Cumbria. He trained with Peat Marwick Mitchell, qualifying a in 1978. Proudfoot later became partnership secretary with chartered surveyors Sanderson Townend and Gilbert. Two years ago he led a management buy-out of Sandersons Property Group, the firm’s Darlington-based estate agency arm, where he was finance director. His new appointment meant his stepping down as deputy president of the Northern Society of Chartered Accountants.
