KPMG tops corporate advisory table

KPMG has topped the Zephus league tables, prepared exclusively for Accountancy Age, for the first quarter of 2002, working on £845m worth of deals, including the £286m institutional buyout of Dignity Caring Funeral Services.

PwC came second, hitting £794m worth of deals, boosted by the $600m (£413m) acquisition of McLeod USA’s directory business by Yell Ltd. Deloitte & Touche came third, but could only rack up £152m worth of deals.

In other news, Ernst & Young has poached Andersen’s Richard Fleming, who was head of corporate finance in the ailing firm’s Leeds office. He spent more than 15 years’ specialising in corporate restructuring, including business reviews, investigations, administrations and receiverships.

And Guy Warrington is to become the new head of corporate finance at KPMG.
