PwC came second, hitting £794m worth of deals, boosted by the $600m (£413m) acquisition of McLeod USA’s directory business by Yell Ltd. Deloitte & Touche came third, but could only rack up £152m worth of deals.
In other news, Ernst & Young has poached Andersen’s Richard Fleming, who was head of corporate finance in the ailing firm’s Leeds office. He spent more than 15 years’ specialising in corporate restructuring, including business reviews, investigations, administrations and receiverships.
And Guy Warrington is to become the new head of corporate finance at KPMG.
