Moulton to meet Cammell Laird

Jon Moulton

Moulton believes Cammell Laird can return to the profitability it enjoyed less than a year ago, before it was hit by the failure of two major contracts, according to a report in the Observer. He is said, however, to remain concerned over the shipbuilder’s thin order book.

Cammell Laird called in receivers this month following a series of cancelled orders, including the termination of a Pounds 50m cruise liner contract. More than 3,000 jobs are now thought to be under threat.

A high profile accountant, Moulton, who was short listed for at last year’s Accountancy Age Awards for Excellence, was involved in a controversial yet ultimately unsuccessful bid to buy Rover Cars from BMW.
