High street retailer ePlay enters administration

More proof of high street retailers' struggle against the internet, as ePlay enters adminstration

Games and console retailer ePlay has entered into administration.

Asher Miller and David Rubin of
David Rubin &
Partners
are acting as joint administrators for the £4m revenue
business, looking for purchasers of its stores as a going concern and offers for
its 13-store property portfolio.

Miller said the business had struggled against internet retailers and major
high street chains.

‘These businesses not only face competition from lower cost-based internet
retailers but also from supermarkets and other major high street retailers who
can use their buying power to pass cost savings onto consumers, as well as
providing the convenience of being able to buy everything under one roof,’ said
Miller.
