TS: Watch this space in Hackney.

Skimming through the sits vac in the back of Public Finance magazine, TS was intrigued to spot a full page advertisement from Hackney Council, the stoney broke local authority that now has Stephen Byers breathing down its neck.

Under the guise of turning over a new leaf, Hackney is now looking to recruit a raft of new finance managers.

The trouble is, prospective candidates are told merely to ‘watch this space’. There are no particulars of the positions that are available.

Perhaps the council doesn’t want to put people off by giving away too many details.

No doubt, though, that these could be ‘the most exciting jobs in local government finance’, albeit the most short lived if the man from the ministry has his way.
