London council's financial management singled out for praise

Financial management at Hammersmith & Fulham council has been identified as an area of significant achievement following an investigation by the local government voluntary self-regulator.

The outcome of the Improvement and Development Agency’s week-long review of Hammersmith & Fulham scored the authority well on leadership, democratic and community engagement, and performance management.

Singled out for particular praise was the council’s appetite for change and innovation, financial management and probity, its stable management structure, and its commitment to tackling issues such as best value.

Victor Gallant, executive director of North Tyneside Council and a member of the IDeA team, said: ‘Hammersmith & Fulham is a truly outstanding authority.’
