Accountant to lead business recovery body
Tony Supperstone, a chartered accountant and consultant at mid-tier firm BDO
Stoy Hayward, has been appointed president of R3, the Association of Business
Recovery Professionals.
He takes over the role from Ron Robinson, a partner at Begbies Traynor, and
will hold the post for a 12-month period.
Supperstone has held an insolvency licence since 1986 and has nearly 30 years
experience in corporate recovery, dealing with a wide range of cases.
Speaking on his appointment, he said: ‘The insolvency profession is facing
some major challenges. Consumer credit has greatly increased over recent years –
this is mainly due to excessive use of credit cards.’ R3 is actively trying to
encourage more education on the dangers for young people today and has called
for the government to ensure that they leave school equipped with proper skills
in how to manage money and debt.’
Robinson retains a seat on the R3 Council in the role of immediate past
president.
