Haslers is a progressive firm of chartered accountants with more than 50 years’ experience in providing accountancy, tax and business advisory services to the SME sector, and in particular owner-managed/family-run businesses and entrepreneurs.

The firm endeavours to keep up-to-date with changes in technology and innovative ideas to ensure enhanced delivery of services to clients. The firm has 11 partners, all specialists in their chosen field of expertise. Haslers acts for a wide range of clients, with turnovers ranging from £100k to £50m.

The firm is a member of the UK 200 Group and has achieved accreditation for ISO 9001 and Investors in People. Haslers operates an advanced recruitment and training policy and all personnel undertake a programme of continuous professional development and education, either inhouse or externally.

The last year has seen further development in the firm’s internal structure to improve client focus, effectiveness and innovation. The firm seeks to go one step further in offering clients a bespoke service that is unique to the practice and sets the organisation apart.

All staff at the firm are issued with a series of client service standards. This document is self-explanatory and gives staff a standard they must comply with and uphold at all times.

Quality and innovative products feature prominently in Haslers’ services to clients. Haslers prides itself on innovation and has recently become accredited as a Business Link adviser.

An ambitious business plan, devised in mid-2002, sought to grow the company during the next five years from a £4.4m turnover to £8.5m in 2007. This would be achieved by a combination of recruitment of high calibre staff, the provision of cutting-edge products and services, the development of an aggressive marketing and business development campaign and continuous improvement in standards of service.

The targets outlined in the firm’s business plan are already being exceeded. In 2003 alone turnover rose by 34% overall, taking the firm to within £300,000 of the 2007 target of £8.5m. The fee income for 2003 was £8.3m, with fees per partner £833,000 each.

The turnover figure for 2004 is estimated to be in the region of £9m, thus already exceeding the target originally set for 2007.

Haslers aims to provide clients with a high class service and consistently strives to go beyond the current expectations of industry and commerce. As one judge put it: ‘A good entry with good information on financial performance, a good synopsis and supporting documents.’
