FDUK’s new Bath operation will be run by Peter Mills, who has held financial director posts in various companies since 1975 and was finance partner for KPMG in the North West.
It has also set up a base in Cheltenham to be run by Richard Clarke, who has previous experience with Ernst & Young, as well as drinks company Bulmers and Dowty.
‘We have found a large number of SME businesses whose ambitions are being held back by not having a finance director,’ says FDUK’s managing director Stephen King.
‘These smaller businesses cannot afford a full-time FD and probably often don’t need one on a full-time basis, but nevertheless the sort of contribution a part-time finance director can make adds a lot of value. Not only that, but quite often the managing director is also struggling to be the finance director, which takes their time and effort away from other areas of the business.’
