Roberto Cearsolo Barrenetxea loses his job at leading Spanish museum after admitting to stealing money
The FD of the world famous
Guggenheim
museum in Spain has been turfed out for dipping into the company coffers to
the tune of nearly €500000.
Guggenheim Bilbao said Roberto Cearsolo Barrenetxea had been sacked for
‘financial and accounting irregularities,’ after an internal audit uncovered his
crimes.
After confessing to frauds dating back to 1998 Barrentxea agreed to pay back
€486,979.38 euros. He has already paid back €287,000 and promised to return the
balance within three months.
