BBC media strategist joins KPMG

Firm takes on experienced Beeb media honcho

KPMG has nabbed
Lars
Mouritzen
from the BBC to be its head of media within the firm’s
information, communication and entertainment (ICE) transactions services
practice.

Mouritzen had been with the BBC since 2001 and was head of strategy for
Beyond
Broadcast
, and co-leader for the development of the BBC’s convergence
strategy,

Previous experience includes commercial television, co-founding a media
technology start-up and management consultancy at McKinsey & Co.

Mouritzen will be a member of
KPMG’s
media team
in London, providing merger, acquisition, and divestiture
strategy advice and support to media companies on both the buy and sell side.

Commenting on his new role, Lars Mouritzen said: ‘The media industry has
become very fast moving, with more players and a greater variety of strategies
being deployed. There has never been a greater premium on speed, in terms of
identifying and acting on opportunity as it arises. My challenge is to help our
clients get in shape for the converged competitive game, and I’m relishing it.’
