According to reports George Cox, the IoD director general, told the No Group his organisation had never given its official backing to the campaign, despite the group citing the IoD as one of its allies.Cox was quoted in the FT as saying: ‘Our stance is that we are an independent organisation which wishes to comment independently on all matters and we are not prepared to make our voice heard through any other body.’However he did say the IoD was ‘broadly opposed’ to Britain joining the euro.
