Microsoft could be set for more EC wranglings, as other software companies complain about its 'anti-competitive' behaviour
The world’s largest IT businesses have filed a complaint against Microsoft
with the European Commission regarding the company’s business practices
threatening consumers and other industry players from strangling competitive
choice.
Filed by IBM, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, Nokia and other companies – known as
the European Committee for Interoperable Systems – could lead to another battle
between the EC and Microsoft as the software giant continues to argue over its
compliance regarding complaints its Windows software monopolised the desktop
application marketplace.
The latest complaint centred on Microsoft creating an environment where
web-based applications could only work with computers and servers fronted by
Windows, according to the Financial Times.
