Developed by Business in the Community, a group of companies committed to CR, the deadline for completing the survey is 11 March 2003 and the results will be published on 15 November 2003.

It has the support of the Department of Trade & Industry, the Confederation of British Industry and the Association of British Insurers.

The index covers all sectors of industry and aims to increase awareness of all relevant issues. It aims to provide companies with a systematic process for drawing comparisons with other companies in their sector and allow them to measure the extent to which corporate responsibility is a core business strategy.

Derek Higgs, the index pioneer said: ‘Senior business leaders realise more than ever that corporate responsibility is part and parcel of running a successful business.’
