Independent guidance on ISAs published by financial watchdog
The Financial Services Authority has published a new independent guide to Individual Savings Accounts aimed at first-time savers and investors.
The guide offers general guidance on ISAs but could also berelevant to anyone who wants to refresh their memory on the dos and don’ts surrounding these investment products, a statement said.
Deborah Arnott, head of consumer education at the FSA, said: ‘With the end of the tax year fast approaching, consumers are being bombarded with ISA advertisements wherever they look – in the newspapers, on websites and even on billboards as they walk down the street. We know many people are anxious to take up their ISA allowance before the end of the tax year, but don’t really understand what they’re buying. Our guide will hopefully answer many of the questions people may have about these products.’
