London ICA steps up consultation exercise
The biggest district society in the English ICA is organising another meeting in its attempt to get ordinary members more significantly involved in the running of the institute.
It is part of a wider consultation exercise run by the London Society of Chartered Accountants (LSCA).
The LSCA was disappointed in May when only 50 members turned up for an open forum organised by its practitioner board.
In a different approach, the LSCA is now inviting senior partners in medium-sized firms to a meeting on 14 October. Its aim is to make the partners more enthusiastic and so persuade their employees to be more active in the institute.
Michael Snyder, the chairman of the board, said it was important that members believed they could influence the running of the institute. ‘It is a widely-held view that the institute has elaborate listening techniques, but hears very little.’
The LSCA is also sending out a questionnaire to members, while office-holders are attending area group meetings in an effort to sample opinions.
