Deloitte will appear in the High Court this week to defend a $22m (?11m)
legal action brought against it by ESG Re,
the Bermuda-registered insurance giant.
ESG Re is suing three Deloitte firms, including
Deloitte
(Ireland).
The insurance company claims that the three Deloitte firms were negligent and
in breach of their duties when they provided accountancy services to the
reinsurance company.
It is claiming that it experienced a significant loss of business and is
seeking compensation in the High Court in Dublin.
ESG Re is also suing Deloitte (US), and Deloitte (Bermuda).
All three entities have signalled to the court that they intend to defend the
action.
The case is scheduled to begin on Tuesday and is expected to last up to ten
weeks.
