Andersen mergers: EY still on the hunt

Ernst & Young is still on the hunt for Andersen practices around the globe despite the news that Andersen has sought refuge with Deloitte & Touche in the UK.

Reacting to today’s news of the merger between the two firms, a spokesman for E&Y said: ‘We are continuing to explore possible combinations [with Andersen] outside the US.’

He added: ‘This is an interesting development and we are watching it closely.’

E&Y yesterday said it had picked up Andersen’s Polish firm, creating the largest accounting firm in the country.
