FDs fret over the looming pensions crisis

A poll of FDs listening to the Accountancy Age Insider Business Club found
that 85% were concerned about the ability of their businesses to handle their
pension schemes.

Jerome Melcer, senior consultant at actuarial firm Lane Clark & Peacock,
said FDs would have to be more involved in the process of pension fund
investment decisions.

‘At the moment, FDs only join the loop at the point where trustees set out
their statement of investment principles.’
