Speaking at the Finance Directors’ Forum, held on the cruise ship Aurora, Letwin told the attending FDs that the Labour government has led to the appointment of 300,000 public sector staff who are ‘put hard at work behind desks producing paper’.

Letwin says the Conservatives believe the government is ‘active’ in being ‘counter-productive against productivity’.
