Rosemary Thorne to quit Ladbrokes group FD role

Rosemary Thorne has decided to part company with
Ladbrokes, the
company has announced.

Thorne’s decision to step down next month as group finance director has been
greeted with surprise by industry watchers as she has spent barely a year at the
financial helm of the
FTSE 250
corporate.

She joined the company last January playing a ‘significant part in the
transition of the organisation into an independent betting and gaming plc
following the disposal of the Hilton International hotels division,’ the
bookmaker said.

Her departure is understood to have been agreed by mutual consent and she is
expected to receive a payoff equivalent to a year’s salary which topped £500,000
last year, The Times
reported.

Thorne,was formerly FD at Bradford & Bingley, and Sainsbury’s before
joining Ladbrokes. Brian Wallace, formerly deputy chief executive and FD of the
Hilton Group has been lined up to takeover from Thorne.

Commenting on the announcement Ladbrokes chief executive Christopher Bell
said:
‘I would like to thank Rosemary for the valuable contribution she has made and

wish her every success for the future. The appointment of Brian will further

strengthen the management team, particularly given his retail knowledge and

international experience.’
