Firms help boost capital’s culture

Sponsorship deals, such as Ernst & Young’s support for the Monet exhibition at the Royal Academy and Smith & Williamson’s backing for the Academy’s Summer Exhibition, have contributed to a record £64.5 million in business sponsorship of the arts during 1998/99 according to a survey by Arts and Business.

The capital attracted almost half of the £141 million total raised through business sponsorship throughout the country.
