Revenue gets company car codes wrong again
For a third consecutive year, Inland Revenue computer systems have assigned the wrong tax codes to company car drivers, it has emerged.

This means that as things stand, a million employees will be charged the incorrect amount of tax on their company car benefits, which are automatically deducted from their net salary.
The Revenue told the FT it would aim to ensure that any incorrect codings were corrected before they take effect from April.
According to a Revenue spokesperson, the error was caused by a ‘simple programming error’.
Tax experts though are sceptical of the Revenue’s ability to redress this problem in time for the new tax year, which begins in April.
