All Big Five firms were due to be represented at the SEC auditors’ independence hearings in Washington this week, following KPMG’s Steve Butler’s refusal to testify last Wednesday in New York. Phil Laskaway of Ernst & Young, PwC’s James Schiro, Deloitte’s Jim Copeland, and Gail Steinel of Arthur Andersen all appeared before the hearings on 20 September with Butler due to appear today.
