The 38-year-old Pyper, who until recently was the FD of Budgens stores, will replace Datamonitor’s current FD, Andrew Gilchrist, after a handover period.

Datamonitor said Pyper would be involved in preparing the interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2005, which would be released in September.

AIM-listed investment bank Numis Corporation, meanwhile, has also recruited a new finance chief.

New incumbent William Trent succeeds Duncan Sweetland, who was with the bank for 10 years.

Trent will continue to serve as a director of Energis, a company that was subject to a court order and placed into administration in July 2002. Trent was asked by administrators Ernst & Young to stay on in the position. He is also a director of WEJ Limited.
