Jobs slashed at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young
IT consultancy Cap Gemini Ernst & Young is to cut up to 5,500 jobs over the next six months.
The job losses form part of the IT company’s new restructuring plan, which will also see the closure of buildings and datacentres.
The consultancy will slash 2,500 jobs immediately within the telecom and financial service sectors, and CGE&Y will try to relocate another 3,000 employees, although these positions are also at risk.
The news is another blow to the IT services market, that has recently seen Logica drop out of the FTSE 100, and redundancies at software firms IBM and Hewlett-Packard.
